Terms of Use
Effective July 9, 2026 · Last revised August 9, 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Future Self LLC (“FutureSelf,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) for your use of the FutureSelf iOS app and related websites and services (together, the “Service”).
By downloading, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use FutureSelf. The Service is intended for adults. Companion AI features may not be suitable for some minors. By using the Service, you represent that you meet the age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter these Terms.
2. What FutureSelf is (and is not)
FutureSelf is a self-help and general-wellness tool across Self, Connection, Activity, and Nutrition. Each pillar uses its own model of change. Self includes an identity-to-action practice and optional voice recording. The app also provides task-scoped AI guidance (“Coach”).
FutureSelf is a tool for personal growth and reflection. It is not a health professional and not a substitute for professional care.
Without limiting the above:
- FutureSelf does not provide healthcare services, emergency services, or licensed professional care.
- Coach is artificial intelligence, not a human and not a licensed health professional.
- Training, nutrition, sleep, and recovery features support general wellbeing and your own choices. They are informational guides for reflection and action, not a substitute for professional care.
- Any calorie, workout, or health metric shown is informational. Printed labels and authoritative databases you choose to trust remain ground truth for nutrition numbers you store.
If you have a health condition, injury, disordered eating history, or other concern, talk with a qualified professional before changing exercise or eating habits. If you are in crisis, use the resources in Section 8.
3. Account and access
You may use core features without linking an account. The app creates an anonymous service identity for authenticated backend requests. Sign in with Apple is optional and is required before you can use any eligible account backup feature that we make available. Private-iCloud backup remains off unless you take the in-app action described in the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your device and Apple Account secure.
We may refuse, suspend, or terminate access if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, abused the Service, or created risk for other users or for us.
4. Subscriptions and billing
FutureSelf is offered as a paid Service through Apple’s In-App Purchase system. The available plan, localized price, billing period, and any introductory offer for which you are eligible are shown in the app and Apple purchase sheet immediately before purchase. That purchase presentation controls. No trial duration is promised on this page.
4.1 Auto-renewal
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase (or at the end of a free trial, if applicable).
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the renewal cost identified by Apple.
- You manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account settings: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → FutureSelf.
- Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription where that rule applies under Apple’s terms.
4.2 Refunds
Billing and refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under Apple’s terms. Contact Apple Support for refund requests. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.

5. License to use the Service
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store rules. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse engineer (except to the extent allowed by law), or create derivative works from the Service, or use it to build a competing product.
6. Your content
You retain ownership of the content you create in FutureSelf (reflections, identity statements, recordings, plans, and similar materials) (“Your Content”).
You grant FutureSelf a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, process, transmit, display, and play back Your Content solely as needed to operate, secure, and improve the Service for you (including sending prompts and context to our AI provider to generate responses, and syncing when you enable cloud features).
FutureSelf has no public social feed and does not publish Your Content to other users. You represent that you have the rights needed to submit Your Content and that it does not violate law or these Terms.
7. AI features and limitations
Your AI guide is artificial intelligence. It reflects your own words and supports your goals. It is not a substitute for professional care.
- Coach and related AI features can be wrong, incomplete, outdated, or unhelpful.
- AI output is guidance for reflection and next steps, not professional advice and not a guarantee of outcomes.
- You remain responsible for decisions you make, including exercise, nutrition, and interpersonal choices.
- We may use automated safety systems to reduce harmful outputs and to surface crisis resources. Those systems are not perfect.
8. Crisis and safety
FutureSelf is not an emergency service and cannot dispatch help. If you are in immediate danger, call local emergency services.
If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, you are not alone. Call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7. You can also text HOME to 741741 for the Crisis Text Line.
A draft description of our internal safety protocol is linked at https://futureslf.com/safety. Counsel approval remains required before these Terms or that protocol become binding launch documents.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service unlawfully or to harm others
- Attempt to probe, scan, or breach our systems or Apple’s systems
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service, including by overloading AI endpoints
- Misrepresent your identity or age
- Upload malware or attempt to extract model weights, prompts, or non-public data
- Use the Service to generate or solicit illegal content, or to exploit minors
- Resell, scrape, or commercially exploit the Service without our written permission
10. Health, HealthKit, and third-party data
If you grant HealthKit or other permissions, you authorize us to read (and where applicable write) data as described in the permission prompts and Privacy Policy, solely to provide the Service to you. We do not use HealthKit data for advertising. Apple’s Health and App Store terms also apply. Nutrition lookups may query public databases; those services are not controlled by us.
11. Intellectual property
The Service, including software, design, trademarks, and content we provide (excluding Your Content), is owned by Future Self LLC or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. “FutureSelf” and related marks are our trademarks. Open-source components are acknowledged at futureslf.com/licenses.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS, OR THAT AI OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE OR APPROPRIATE FOR YOUR SITUATION.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers. In those places, warranties are limited to the minimum extent required by law.
13. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FUTURE SELF LLC AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS (US $50).
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence where such limitation is prohibited.
14. Indemnity
You will defend and indemnify Future Self LLC and its personnel against claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from Your Content, your misuse of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or of law, to the extent permitted by law.
15. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and may delete your data in-app. You must also cancel any subscription through Apple if you wish to stop billing. We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these Terms or to protect the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive (including ownership, disclaimers, limitations, indemnity, and governing law) will survive termination.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, excluding conflict-of-law rules. Except where prohibited, you and FutureSelf agree that courts located in California will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms or the Service. Consumers in some jurisdictions may have mandatory local rights that this section does not waive.
17. Apple-required terms
You acknowledge that these Terms are between you and Future Self LLC, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the Service or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. To the extent any warranty is not effectively disclaimed, Apple’s sole warranty obligation is a refund of the App Store purchase price upon request (if applicable). Apple is not responsible for addressing claims relating to the Service, including product liability, legal compliance, or consumer protection claims. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you. You represent that you are not in a U.S.-embargoed country and are not on a U.S. prohibited-party list.
18. Changes
We may update these Terms by posting a revised version on this page with a new “Last revised” date. Material changes may also be noted in the app. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and cancel any subscription.
19. General
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any in-app disclosures presented at purchase, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Headings are for convenience only.
